More overtly political than Family Guy while every bit as gleefully offensive, American Dad stars the ultra-conservative and ultra-stupid CIA operative Stan Smith (MacFarlane), his inexplicably devoted wife Francine (Wendy Schaal), rebellious hippie daughter Hayley (Rachael MacFarlane) and sex-starved teenage son Steve (Scott Grimes). Rounding off the family are a super intelligent, German-accented goldfish and an effeminate, hard drinking alien named Roger. American Dad is a broad but witty satire of the post-9/11 American neo-conservative movement.
